| Titian’s Son and Nurse, by Venetian painter, Tiziano Vecelli (1477/1489 - 1576) was engraved by esteemed Irish engraver, John Murphy for The Houghton Gallery series. Irish born Murphy went to London to study engraving and became a master of mezzotint and stipple. He was commissioned to make plates from Italian masters and contemporaries and for the nobility, the family of George III, and some of the most important plates from The Houghton Gallery. Titian’s Son and Nurse, was published by the eminent English publisher, John Boydell (1719 – 1804), December 1, 1778, in Cheapside London. TheTitian’s Son and Nurse engraving has a vellum covering and measures, 24.25 inches H X 18.25 inches W, with the image size of, 20.00 inches H X 14.00 inches W.
