The Flight Into Egypt, John Spilsbury Engraving, Boydel Publishing

English landscape painter, George Farington, was a student at the Royal Academy, studied with Benjamin West (1738 – 1820), and won many awards for his historical renderings. John Spilsbury was an English print seller and engraver in the dot style and became drawing-master at Harrow School around 1782. The Flight Into Egypt is noted as one of his gems.

The Flight Into Egypt , was published by the eminent English publisher, John Boydell (1719 – 1804), March 2, 1778, in Cheapside London. The Flight Into Egypt engraving has a vellum covering and measures, 14.25” H X 08.50”, with the image size of, 12.50” H X 07.00” W.
