THE OTHER SIDE ANTIQUES - Business of the Month for May 2004
In 1985, John Benton started his antique store. "Not your typical antique store" is his one line description of this unique business. With great connections in England, this store ships in lots of great wood pieces, but also an envious collection of pretty inexpensive stained glass windows. If you are looking for a merchant committed to SOHO, then The Other Side is one of the best. Having acquired the property in 1990, the store is exactly what you want in an antique store: lots of unusual furniture in every corner possible. Knowledge and detail helps make your visit more fun. Each piece seems to have a little story to tell. While most of the inventory is from England, many pieces have been acquired locally as well. Open 7 days a week, this is a great place to wander on most any day. Stop and talk to John sometime, he can bring you quickly up to speed on SOHO and its recent changes. Stained glass, armoires, dressers, chairs, bars, and lots more await you. What a gem of a store.
