| This Federal Style Mahogany China Cabinet, circa 1940, hails from the Drexel Furniture Company; an American company that was founded in the foothills of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Appalachian Mountains in 1903, and still in existence today under the name of Drexel Heritage. The china cabinet is characteristic of the Federal or Duncan Phyfe Style and has a scrolled broken pediment with a center brass eagle finial, and a lovely border in the Greek key motif applied below the pediment. The cabinet door has the original straight-lined fretwork, original glass, and original lock and key that opens to reveal two shelves with grooves for standing plates. And although originally intended for the dining area, this traditional style cabinet would be perfect for showcasing books in the den or office, or one's treasured collectibles, photos, or favorite objects of art in the living area. The drawer and cupboard below provide additional storage space for all sorts of incidentals and have the original Hepplewhite style brass oval pull with bail handles, and the original brass cupboard hardware. The Drexel Federal Style Mahogany China Cabinet has the original Drexel trademark label, measures, 78.50 inches H X 37.25 inches W X 15.50 inches D, and is in the original finish with appropriate wear for its age. |
