Antique Mahogany Secretary Desk

This is an absolutely fabulous American Antique Mahogany Secretary Desk, circa 1850 - a relic from America's Antebellum South. The desk is constructed out of beautiful mahogany veneer over southern yellow pine. The top drawer is hand dovetailed with a chamfered drawer bottom. The drop front desk opens to reveal a nice size writing service, the original ivory knobs, and several compartments and cubbyholes – perfect for storing all those unsightly messes. The cupboard doors below open to more storage space with a wooden shelf. The top’s beaded molding and decorative corner moldings are quite lovely and add just the right finishing touch to this elegant piece. Because of the southern yellow pine we assume that this piece originated in the southeastern part of the United States. The American Mahogany Secretary Desk measures, 64.50” H X 40.25” W X 18.75” D, and is in the original finish that has a lovely rich patina, acquired, no doubt after many years of excellent care..
