  About Us

The Other Side Antiques opened its doors July 5, 1985.

The way we got started was actually quite a coincidence. In the early 1980s Mary Ann inherited furniture from her Grandma Ann. The pieces were not in optimal condition since they had sat in her grandmother’s basement for probably thirty years or more. John took on the task of restoring the wood to its original luster, and thus began his passion for refinishing and restoring furniture. Not long after that, he chose to make it a full time profession.

Soon afterwards, we decided to expand the business so off to England we went, scouring the countryside for just the right pieces. Right after our return we set up shop.

The Other Side Antiques' first location was at the end of a dead end street. Word of mouth soon spread and in 1990 we moved to a larger facility in the historic SoHo district in Tampa where we’ve been ever since.

Our goal has always been to provide every customer with antique stained glass and antique furniture at affordable prices, and of course, to provide everyone with extraordinary customer service.

Our inventory encompasses a variety of period styles, from Victorian to the Fab 50’s. Cocktail & curio cabinets, bars, armoires, chiffoniers, bookcases, pub and drop-leaf tables, chairs, bureaus, chest-of-drawers, vanities, buffets/ sideboards, washstands, hall stands & hall trees are part of our extensive inventory. We have over five hundred antique stained glass pieces, many with matching sets. We pride ourselves on our astounding collection of colors and textures, and variety of period styles.

With John and long time employee Robert’s help, we not only professionally restore antiques to their glorious state, we also modify furniture pieces, such as armoires and buffets, to accommodate the growing need in today’s market. Bathroom sink vanities, linen closets, kitchen islands, kitchen cabinets, computer centers, entertainment centers and bookshelves are some of the conversion requests that we handle.

We absolutely love what we do. It's such a wonderful feeling for us to reflect back through the years where we’ve had the pleasure of seeing our customer’s children grow up right before our eyes. In this fast paced ever-changing world, it’s comforting to know that after 21 years, generations of antique enthusiast’s can share the experience that is, The Other Side Antiques.
